Here’s a shocker. A successful comedy with a remarkably limited premise is getting a sequel that simply changes the location of the hijinks. At least that’s premise being teased in the trailer for Ride Along 2, which sees Kevin Hart and Ice Cube reuniting, but this time taking their talents to South Beach.
I can’t lie. I think this looks absolutely dreadful. All that’s missing is the subtitle Assignment: Miami Beach. But let’s hypothesize what Ride Along 2 might ensue — Kevin Hart will be shrill and obnoxious and Ice Cube will be angry and irritated. That’s about it. Directed by Tim Story, Ride Along 2 opens in theaters on January 16th, 2016.
The official synopsis for Ride Along 2:
Kevin Hart and Ice Cube lead the returning lineup of Ride Along 2, the sequel to the blockbuster action-comedy that gave us the year’s most popular comedy duo. Joining Hart and Cube for the next chapter of the series are director Tim Story, as well as Cube’s fellow producers—Will Packer, Matt Alvarez and Larry Brezner—who will produce alongside Cube.
