Rarely is a sequel better than the original, but going to the future after changing the past to save the present is what Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is all about. That and a boat load of pop culture references and one-liners that will have you rolling.
“It was always a joke of a pitch. If we got rejected the idea was we’d pitch Hot Tub Time Machine. The studio asked how soon can we get a script and now we’re here doing the second one,” said writer Josh Heald.
The movie is extremely self-aware and continuously pokes fun at itself. From Lou (Rob Corddry) getting shot in the man bits to eventually regrouping, to Nick (Craig Robinson) being a beat biter, and Jacob (Clark Duke) looking like baby Lex Luthor in the future, this flick has the audience rolling.
Although John Cusack is missing, Adam Scott fills his shoes…and bum (wait and see) as his son Adam Jr.
Can the fab four save Lou’s manhood without compromising the integrity of the future yet to come? You’ll find out, but only if you see it twice so you can catch the jokes you missed the first time from laughing so hard.
