Torchwood fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. After many years, and a disappointing fourth series collaboration with the Stars network, Torchwood is finally coming back. But not to the small screen.
Big Finish audio, the people behind the fantastic Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 audio plays, and more, are bringing Captain Jack Harkness and a new Torchwood crew back for further adventures. The fan-favorite series continues with audio drama, The Conspiracy, a deadly thriller which sparks off an event that impacts the entire Torchwood team.
Torchwood: A top secret organisation outside the government, beyond the police. Led by the irrepressible Captain Jack Harkness, an immortal Time Agent and former companion to the Doctor, Torchwood defends Cardiff and the world from alien menaces and terrible forces, keeping the city safe from an inter-dimensional rift that runs through it.
The Doctor Who audio plays have been really something else, continuing the tales of past regenerations of the Doctor, and adding to their stories. Big Finish has done an amazing job, especially with the 8th Doctor tales, giving Paul McGann the chance to flourish where the television series did not, and I have a feeling they will do the same for Torchwood. The Conspiracy is just the first in a line of Torchwood audio plays planned by Big Finish, with five more starting in January 2016.
BBC Radio previously did four Torchwood audio plays a few years ago, and if these are even half as good, which is expected, they will give Torchwood fans exactly what they’ve been wanting for years.
Torchwood: The Conspiracy is available for pre-order now.
