Later today, YouTube will be announcing their summer launch of “YouTube Gaming,” a new website and app to keep one connected to their favorite games, players, and video game culture. The website will consist of videos, live streams, and the largest community of gamers on the internet, all in one place.
YouTube Gaming is designed to be about the player’s favorite video games and gamers. More than 25,000 games will each have their own personal page with all the best videos and live streams for that title. One can also find channels from a large variety of game publishers and YouTube creators.
Players will be able to select any game for their collection to stay updated on the latest videos for their favorite title. YouTube Gaming channels will notify players when the channel starts a live stream and the site will provide recommendations based on the player’s favorite games.
And when you want something specific, you can search with confidence, knowing that typing “call” will show you “Call of Duty” and not “Call Me Maybe.”
– Alan Joyce, Production Manager
Live streams will be front-and-center on the YouTube Gaming homepage. They will be launching an improved live experience to make it easier for one to broadcast their gameplay. In addition to existing features, such as high frame rate streaming at 60fps, DVR, and automatically converting your stream into a YouTube video, YouTube also made it so that players no longer need to schedule a live event ahead of time and created a single link for one to share all their streams.
YouTube Gaming will be available this summer, beginning in the U.S. and U.K.. YouTube Gaming is meant for gamers and they want to hear from gamers everywhere how to make YouTube Gaming the best way to connect with the gaming community. Drop by their booth at E3 next week for an early look at YouTube Gaming. If you cannot make it, tune in live at youtube.com/e3, head to gaming.youtube.com and follow @YouTubeGaming and you’ll be the first to know when YouTube Gaming is ready for you to play with.
Happy Gaming.
