A Dead Good Friend and Three Arrows. Four Targets are short story comics that focus on a single action and how it plays out. A Dead Good Friend is about a mafia boss narrating his decision to kill his good friend Jimmy P., who botched a job. Three Arrows, Four Targets describes a ninja’s plight, as he must kill four people with a dwindling weapons supply.
Each short story gets straight to the point with careful description or action. They only span six pages each, which makes it a challenge to capture the reader’s attention. James Mulholland succeeds with a focused plot to get the reader from A to B.
The art probably won’t win any awards, but they suit the story’s quick style and push it forward with decent character designs.
These simple one-shot comics serve to distract the reader for a few moments with interesting storylines.
