Tyrant – ‘Knight to Queen’s Bishop, Three’

Season two of the FX epic series Tyrant picks up where season one ended. Barry (Adam Rayner) is still imprisoned by his brother Jamal (Ashraf Barhom) in an Abuddin prison.The one thing Jamal wants from his brother is an apology for the attempted coup, however Barry’s hubris will not allow him to do so, even with Jamal having the upper-hand.

While all of this is going on, the First Lady, Leila (Moran Atias) is playing damage control in Ma’an, in trying to keep the peace as Chinese diplomats look to invest in the oil fields of the fictitious Middle Eastern nation. Unfortunately for the ruling family, General Tariq (Raad Rawi) is looking to gas the city to end the uprising set forth by Ihab Rashid (Alexander Karim) and his followers. Jamal orders all the chemical weapons destroyed as he refuses to be a war criminal, professing that even though his brother is not there, Barry’s voice is still with him.

As the episode entitled the Mark of Cain comes to a close with the Chinese delegates eager to broker a deal in the wake of Barry’s apparent execution via hanging, what will happen to Abuddin? Will Jamal crush the revolutionaries who chanted, “Free Bassam, Free Abuddin,” or will the problems intensify? You have to wait until next week to find out.
