The Shannara Chroanicles title sequence is out. It’s an interesting choice of images: There is almost nothing to do with The Elfstones of Shannara in there. Mostly, with its images of cities falling and bodies turning to bone, it encapsulates the entire history of war that ended civilization as we know it with lines of dripping blood coming down from the word “human” to show that gnomes, dwarves, and trolls are descended from humans. In fact, the only race not so descended is the elves–and there is one glimpse of an elf (or half elf? It could be Wil) standing there near the end.
The only image specific to The Elfstones of Shannara is the Elcryss at the end with the falling leaves. It looks even more like MTV is taking the long view and planning on working on other books in the series; as things are, with that title sequence, the show could jump forward to The Wishsong of Shannara or back into one of the prehistory books. If the prehistory is discussed more than in the brief clip shown earlier when Allanon tells of the past, some might be worked in further into the Elfstones with flashbacks to parallel the current possible fate of the Four Lands.
