The Rec Room Comedy Club located inside Off the Wall Social in Huntington Beach, CA is a hidden gem that finally needs to be revealed.
Comedian and actor Jamie Kennedy (The Specials, Malibu’s Most Wanted, Scream) recorded his most recent comedy special at The Rec Room. Bret Ernst (Cobra Kai, Witness Infection, Tacoma FD) has performed a handful of times within the last 6 months at The Rec Room. The Sklar Brothers, K-Von, Pablo Francisco and a whole host of other established comics as well as up-and-comers have all performed at The Rec Room Comedy Club in Huntington Beach, CA.
So what makes this place so special? It’s one man, club manager and comedian Kenny Weber.
Weber knows the comedy scene and understands that people who really love comedy will see some comics-comics at The Rec Room. One of featured weekly shows created by Weber, entitled, “Nice Bits” takes place very Thursday night where 10 comedians are drawn at random to compete on stage. Each comic gets 3-minutes to perform, in front of two judges, one a comedian and the other is usually an adult performer.
Once the two finalists are selected, they will be given 1-minute to perform a speed round set, then take 10-minutes follow that set to be interviewed by the judges. The winner returns on Friday or Saturday for a featured spot during the 7 p.m. show.
The Rec Room Comedy Club is the ideal place to check out incredible headliners, up-and-comers, open mics and secret shows at exceptionally reasonable prices with a menu.
Weber and the staff are extremely personable, willing to crack jokes before or after the shows.
Nice Bits takes place this Thursday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through EventBrite.
Michael Lenoci will be performing on Friday, March 18 at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets for Lenoci’s show can also be purchased through EventBrite.
