Maybe it’s something in the air. The past couple days have seen a flurry of information regarding new kid’s films on old properties. Just a few days ago, the latest Smurfs movie was presented with an outdated title. Yesterday, Alvin and the Chipmunks turned their backs on their punderful tradition. Today brings us the trailer for The Peanuts Movie. Naturally, the film is a modern adaptation of Charles Schulz‘s legendary comic strip. And while I certainly like the blend of 2D and 3D animation that the trailer presents, I can’t help but laugh at the inclusion of a song that just embodies everything Peanuts has always stood for — “Baba O’Reilly” by The Who. Awkward classic rock aside, the Steve Martino-directed, Paul Feig-produced Peanuts Movie opens nationwide on November 6th, 2015. It’ll be Snoopy vs. Bond that weekend. Who do you got?
The official synopsis for The Peanuts Movie:
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved “Peanuts” gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state of the art 3D animation. Charlie Brown, the world’s most beloved underdog, embarks upon an epic and heroic quest, while his best pal, the lovable beagle Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron. From the imagination of Charles M. Schulz and the creators of the ICE AGE films, THE PEANUTS MOVIE will prove that every underdog has his day.
