I spend my days looking for geeky TV and movie news that may not be big enough for their own story, but are news nonetheless. And then I compile them here for you. Because you ain’t got time for that!
TVLine is reporting that Renee Montoya (Victoria Cartagena) and Crispus Allen (Andrew Stewart-Jones) will not be returning to Gotham next season, which bums me out but doesn’t surprise me after last season’s under-use of the characters. Michael Chiklis will be coming on board as GCPD Captain Nathaniel Barnes.
This new international teaser for the next season of Gotham shows that the bad guys might be winning, hence the subtitle Rise of the Villains. We get to see many returning villains, as well as new ones (Tigress), and a bit of Arkham Asylum, where I’ve heard much of this season will be taking place. It doesn’t pay very well to be a police officer in Gotham City, despite what the corrupt officers would like you to think. Thanks to carlost.net for the video.
Gotham returns on Monday, September 21st.
This new quickie teaser for Fear the Walking Dead shows the beginning of the outbreak in Los Angeles. Using time-lapse we see the lights going out as fires begin consuming the city. This one comes from carlost.net as well.
Fear The Walking Dead begins Sunday, August 23rd.
It appears that Hawkman will be joining his fated soulmate Hawkgirl on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Variety is reporting that Falk Hentschel will be joining Ciara Renee first on a crossover episode or two of the Flash and Arrow, before appearing during the mid-season break on Legends of Tomorrow.
Here’s the official description:
“Falk will play Carter Hall, the latest reincarnation of an Egyptian Prince who is fated to reincarnate throughout time along with his soulmate, Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renée). Like Kendra, Carter can access the powers of the Hawk God, Horus, transforming him into the winged warrior known as ‘Hawkman.'”
The Flash and Arrow air Tuesday and Wednesday nights, respectively, on the CW.
As reported all over the place last week, it appeared that Channing Tatum had walked away from Gambit. I wasn’t so sure it would stick, so I never ran anything. Tatum has been promoting the film extensively, even appearing in Hall H at SDCC for 20th Century Fox’s panel, and he has let it be well known that he loves the character, so I’m glad I didn’t as THR is reporting that Tatum has signed on to not only play the Rajin’ Cajun, but to produce as well.
The report states that one of the sticking factors was Gambit’s place in the larger X-Universe, with Fox considering him “one of the anchor characters of the X-universe, akin to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine”. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct from a script by Josh Zetumer based on a treatment by legendary X-Men scribe Chris Claremont.
