With our society’s go-go-go attitude, who has time to wander the internet looking for news of your favorite shows or films? I do! Here’s what I’ve deemed relevant today.
With Netflix‘s Daredevil series coming in the very near future, fans have been clamoring for information on the streaming service’s other exclusive Marvel series’, especially the lesser known to the mainstream AKA Jessica Jones. Well, today it was revealed that David Tenant would be portraying the villainous Purple Man, albeit with a slight name change, as Kilgrave, an “enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past”. After her short-lived stint as a superhero, Jessica (Krysten Ritter) is trying to rebuild her life as a detective who handles cases involving super powers. How Kilgrave figures in in the MCU continuity is unknown at this point, but I have a feeling he’ll be causing a wee bit of trouble for our heroine. In the comics the Purple Man, aka Zebediah Killgrave, began as a Daredevil villain before taunting Jessica Jones and Luke Cage throughout the 2000s. He can control the actions of others through his body’s production of pheromones.
“I’m so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character,” said Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg. “He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He’ll make Kilgrave a truly original villain.”
Mike Colter also stars as Luke Cage. Sweet Christmas!
The January 29th issue of Empire Magazine features a 20-page Marvel exclusive, presumably with page after page of never-before-seen Avengers: Age of Ultron photos. BUT, they aren’t keeping it all under wraps, and have released the cover images online, with a group shot of the Earth’s mightiest heroes on one, and the big bad on the other.
Fox’s Gotham has found its Dollmaker. Colm Feore has been cast as Dr. Francis Dulmacher, an obsessive evil genius with very particular taste in women.
