Quarry is the title character played by Logan Marshall-Green, a Vietnam Vet who returns to 1972 Memphis as he struggles to return to a life of normalcy. Unfortunately for Quarry, his quest for solace is constantly met with rejection and degradation from his fellow countrymen.
Completely disenfranchised and shunned by those he had hoped would support him upon his return, Quarry is introduced to a character only known as The Broker (Peter Mullan), a shady character that offers Quarry a job in something he’s really good at, killing people.
Now this hitman for hire uses the skills he’s learned in the military to commit these crimes up and down the Mississippi River.
Naturally, Quarry finds a love interest in Joni (Jodi Balfour), which complicates things for our Marine who is now engulfed in The Broker’s crew.
The series is difficult to watch as almost all are in agreement, the Vietnam War was unjust, but the way our returning veterans were treated was also unfair to them. Not everyone had the luxury of deferment, attending university or escaping north and those had to go over and fight were either doing what they felt was their civic duty or had no choice but to follow Uncle Sam’s orders.
What’s most exciting about Quarry on Blu-ray are the nine various bonus features from deleted scenes, to recreating 1972 Memphis. All add to the intrigue of this especially dark series that had me watching multiple episodes in one sitting, which I never do.
If you like dark and gritty, than Quarry is a must watch.

Quarry is dark, violent and raw. Everything I enjoy in a long running series.
