Left a good job in the city. Now she’s kickin’ ass every night and day. Oscar nominee and star of Empire and Hidden Figures, Taraji P. Henson, now tries her hand at the action game with Proud Mary, the upcoming film from director Babak Najafi. The trailer for the upcoming action film that takes its name from the classic rock ‘n’ roll number from Ike & Tina Turner, opens with the eponymous song and the raspy vocals of the iconic singer. Then it kicks up into another gear as Henson wields a number of guns and the fisticuffs start flying in what is surely to be a highly anticipated piece of action cinema.
Babak Najafi previously helmed the Gerard Butler sequel London Has Fallen, and even though the film has a number of issues the action that Najafi brought to the film was quite visually impressive. Co-starring with Henson in Proud Mary are Danny Glover (is he still too old for this shit?) and Billy Brown.
Taraji P. Henson will show audiences a whole new side to her ass-kicking persona when Proud Mary blasts into theaters with two guns a-blazin’ on January 12, 2018.
