Nightwing, the first ever sidekick was also the first one ever allowed to grow up in comics. He’s been Robin, a secret agent and even Batman, but the trapeze artist has always been unique in comics. Not just because he’s had many firsts, but the character of Dick Grayson was always one that never looked too far into the past. He has always been in constant motion and for some people that is how they are wired.
Now, Nightwing is pulling a rope-a-dope on the Parliament of Owls, who had implanted a death chip in Robin’s head as an insurance policy to get the original Robin to work for them, little do they know they chip was extracted. Unfortunately, the Parliament are forcing Nightwing to take a new partner named Raptor, an assassin that is being touted as better than Batman who will retrain the Gray Son to be as ruthless as he is.
The story develops nicely, but after awhile, the idea of Nightwing still living in Batman’s shadow becomes tiresome. Nightwing has become his own character and although so many of us have lost our father’s we do not all need to seek the continuous approval of a father figure. Let Nightwing finally grown up and give up on these daddy issue to make him the hero he deserves to be.

The Verdict
Nightwing can’t catch a break. The moment you think he’s stepped out of the shadow of Batman and he gets pulled back in to being compared to the Dark Knight. this one is going to go interesting places, that’s for sure.
