In the latest bit of non-news-news, Marvel Studios has announced their full film line-up until 2019, with five new untitled additions to the roster. A few months ago Kevin Feige stated that Marvel has mapped out their film slate until 2028, and it’s beginning to look like they really have. We all but know that one of these “untitled” films is Doctor Strange, and there are rumors about some of the others, such as the Latino Review rumored Black Panther, but no concrete data to back up these rumors.
The biggest bit of news here is that Marvel have three films being released in 2017, the year DC has announced for their highly anticipated Justice League film. That is a pretty bold move, almost as bold as Captain America 3 landing in theaters the same day as Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Marvel has been killing it in theaters, and looks to be catching up to DC on television screens soon, while DC rules television screens but can’t quite match Marvel’s film output. These next couple of years are sure to be interesting.
In my humble opinion Marvel hasn’t made a single mis-step so far, so here’s hoping they aren’t over-saturating the market as many armchair critics have been claiming since The Avengers was released. I for one am really looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy, and am hoping that it’s the hit I expect it to be, because one of these films could possibly be a sequel. And we could always use more Rocket and Groot in our lives.
Here’s the official list, so get to speculating!
Aug. 1, 2014: “Guardians of the Galaxy”
May 2, 2015: “Avengers: Age of Ultron”
