Less is More With the Urban Armor Gear Exo-Skeleton Case for Android Tablets

GameStop, Inc.

urban armor gear

Urban Armor Gear is a company that focuses on creating cases for devices that offer a balance of protection, function, comfort, and design. They offer cases for brands such as Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft. Recently, the company released a lightweight exo-skeleton case for Android tablets.

The case can adjust from 8.9 in x 5.7 in to 10.3 in x 6.7 in with 360 degrees of protection. The case is feather light and impact resistant with a pen holder, hand strap, and kick stand. According to the website, the case even meets military drop standards.

According to the website, the case is compatible with most large Android tablets and with the following cases:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 (9.7″)
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (9.7″)
  • Galaxy Tab E (9.6″)
  • Galaxy Tab A (10.1″)
  • Acer Iconia One 10 (10.1″)
  • Verizon Ellipsis 10 (10.1″)

At first glance, the case does not seem like much. The lightness of the case gives off the impression that the case is flimsy and will break if I dropped it. Since the company pride itself on creating rugged, lightweight, and drop tested protection, I did the most logical task. I dropped the case. The exo-skeleton case is a book that should not be judged by its cover. The case was in perfect condition after dropping it by itself, so I did a drop test again with my tablet. Holding true to its promise, the case absorbed the impact and my tablet was working just fine. At first, the case does not seem like it provides the 360 protection, but the protection is provided where it matters, the corners. Tablets are more likely to land on the corners when they drop and UAG took note of this. Even if the tablet lands completely flat, the thickness of the bumpers prevents the screen from making contact with the ground. The hand strap is one of my favorite parts of the case. It makes it easier to carry around and I don’t have to worry about dropping my tablet on my face when I lie down. The weight and design of the case make it perfect for a minimalist and the extra features are great for people that love practical items.

Overall, the Urban Armor Gear exo-skeleton case for Android tablets is a great buy for minimalists that love practicality. While looks can be deceiving, the case does indeed deliver rugged, lightweight, drop protection.
