Most everyone in North America has played with LEGO building blocks. In fact, a survey shows that 97% of people have played with LEGO at one time in their lives. It’s no wonder why the hype surrounding the Warner Bros. new The Lego Movie is set to be the hit film of the weekend.
How could the WB go wrong with characters like Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman), Batman (Will Arnett) Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks), The Cast of Star Wars (Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels), Lord Business/President Business (Will Ferrell), Bad Cop/Good Cop (Liam Neeson) and Benny the 80s LEGO Astronaut (Charlie Day). This is hands down the best stop motion animated feature ever made. Just pay attention to the waves as the pirate ship fights the seas. The LEGO Movie even has a catchy tune called, “Everything is Awesome!” The only thing that went a little wonky was that the story was all over the place, from, “Let’s be friends,” to “Wooooaaaahhhh that girl is hot!” leading into, “Corporations are evil!” followed by “Hey, I am finally special!” with “Batman’s a jerk,” and then, “You mean I’m not special?” and lastly, “Daddy, why don’t you love me? (That’s the live action portion).”
There were a lot of 80s and 90s pop culture references for the parents to enjoy and the visuals are the best stop motion to date, definitely worth a look and your kids will love it.
The LEGO Movie opens Friday, February 7, 2014.
