The Murder Hawk Monster, Lance Archer Talks About Facing Miro for the TNT Championship at AEW’s Double or Nothing this Sunday.
Texas born, Lance Archer, aka the Murder Hawk Monster, will be facing Bulgaria’s Miro for the TNT Championship at AEW’s Double or Nothing Pay Per View this Sunday, May 30, 2021.
Archer, who stands 6’8″ and is a former IWGP United States Champion and a three time IWGP Tag Team Champion over in New Japan Pro Wrestling came to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) with legendary Hall of Famer, Jake “The Snake” Roberts as his manager.
“I have known Jake (Roberts) for a long time and working with him in AEW, he has taught me really how to talk on the mic and work on my promos. You can see the influence he has but it is still very much Lance Archer doing the talking, ” glared Archer.
Nearly one year to the day, Archer faced “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes for the AEW TNT Championship at Double or Nothing, of which Archer fell short.
“Cody (Rhodes) was able to capitalize in our match and retain the title,” said Archer.
However, this year is a different story, Rhodes is no longer champion, his successor was Darby Allin, who recently lost the title to Miro after multiple assaults by Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky.
“Darby Allin is a crazy SOB that isn’t afraid to die and Miro isn’t afraid to kill. Miro took advantage of Darby after having been thrown downstairs by Page and Sky, but I am completely healthy and someone he will have to contend with this Sunday,” said Archer.
One of the big things happening this weekend is the “Icon” Sting will have his first match in over 6 years after a disastrous Buckle Bomb that took place another promotion, while Sting did have a cinematic tag team match recently, this is his first time returning to the ring in front of an audience.
“Sting is an inspiration. He’s one of the reasons why I became a wrestler, doing his Crow character in WCW while I was playing football and at his age to still be at peak performance is inspiring to everyone in the locker room,” smiled Archer.
Along with Archer’s championship bout, the main event consists of the Stadium Stampede between The Inner Cicle and Pinnacle, which Archer says there is no way to predict what will happen as with last’s years match, Matt Hardy changed characters four or five times every time he was dunked in the pool.
For his own match against Miro, Archer made the following statement:
“We’re going to show you a new era of big men, in the business of professional wrestling. It’s going to be a 2021 version of big bad dudes beating beating the crap out of each other, which is something you’re not going to see anywhere else. You’re also going to see some amazing athleticism that you didn’t expect to see, from me possibly walking the ropes and doing the moonsault to Miro doing whatever he’s going to do, while I’m choke slamming him in the ring or tossing him over the ropes, you’re going to see him fly a lot. That’s my prediction as far as I am concerned.”
