Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs The Reverend is coming to Netflix on May 12. What’s even more exciting than more Kimmy Schmidt, is that it will be an interactive program! Personally, I loved the Black Mirror: Bandersnatch special. It’s definitely something different, and it adds a lot of replay value. Not that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt doesn’t have a lot of replay value, I’ve probably watched it at least 3 times, but the choose your own adventure style warrants immediate playback. What excited me the most about this, is that it appears there will be a lot of comedic meta-commentary. Not that Bandersnatch didn’t have any meta-commentary, but 4th wall breaking in comedy holds a special place in my heart. It’s probably because of Saved by the Bell and Scrubs.
The special seems to be rife with guest stars, cameos, and peak Titus. But what is the most intriguing, is the expansion of the story. There are more mole-women and they are still in their bunkers! What does that mean? Spin-off? Is the spin-off going to be based on how many people view the program or how many people come to the same ending?
Personally, I can’t wait. And since it doesn’t seem like we’re going anywhere anytime soon, really can’t wait. In the meantime, we can always head to Netflix and rewatch the series.
