He’s tied to a chair. Blood dripping from his bottom lip, rage seething through his gritted teeth, he says, “Yeah, I’m thinking I’m back…again!” Or at least that’s the scenario that played in my head upon hearing the best news this week – John Wick is officially getting a sequel. The film, which starred Keanu Reeves and was directed by the duo of David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, proved to be one of the most unexpected surprises of 2014, and was likely the best all-around action film released that year.
The film is being announced with the hopes of selling international distribution rights during the Cannes Film Festival, so there are no developments as to writers and co-stars, but the principals are returning. More importantly, without a clear timetable for John Wick 2, we can’t be sure how this might affect the Bloodshot movie that currently has Leitch and Stahelski attached to direct. But those are all just minor side notes – John Wick is coming back and there will be headshots. Lots and lots of headshots.
