Jackbox Party Pack 3 Review

Jackbox Party Pack 3 is the third game in the ever-so-popular series of group interactive games by Jackbox Games. This “threequel” features 4 all-new games: Trivia Murder Party, Tee K.O. Guesspionage, Fakin’ it; and 1 sequel game: Quiplash 2. If you’re not familiar with Jackbox Party Pack games, these games almost always need a group of 3 or more to get the most out of it and really knowing the people in your group is a huge bonus. Also, everyone will need a smart device to play and the screen is used as the game board. The new games in this pack give great life to this series and it is probably the most interactive and unique of the 3. It also introduces a more interactive audience feature that allows you to play with more than 8 players in all of the games. In this review, I’ll touch bases on all of the games and hopefully it’ll help you determine if this party pack is meant for you.

Trivia Murder Party

Trivia Murder Party is a stay-alive trivia game where the end is determined when there is only 1 person left in the game. This doesn’t mean the last person wins because anyone can still pull ahead at the end. Everyone participates by answering random questions on screen and the those who gets it wrong, play a murder game that can possibly eliminate them from the initial game. In the final round, you play one last game where you try to escape the party and the person that answers the most questions right, wins. The best element of this game is that it takes a regular, boring trivia game and makes it into a party survival game. It’s always fun to try and outwit your friends and the murder games are a great spin on eliminating each other through luck, memorization, and speed. Although just like any other trivia game, you’ll eventually run out of questions and the replay value might not be as great, if you are always playing with the same group of people.

Tee K.O.

Tee K.O. is the newdrawful/bidots game of the pack that has everyone making a T-shirt on their device and you battle it out for the best design. Drawing games are usually hit-or-miss with gamers because not many people are very artistic and drawing on a phone with your finger is pretty difficult. This game also requires you to be creative, since there are no keywords or phrases that you match up to, and that might be a little discouraging to new groups that don’t know each other well. If you have the right group, this can be tons of fun because you can have all the inside jokes on your T-shirt design. I mostly enjoyed this game, but players have to remember not to get too offended when someone doesn’t like their design. This is probably more directed towards kids and will lose its fun factor after the first game.

Guesspionage is another unique game they added to the pack. One player will have a question about how much of the population does or doesn’t do something and they have to guess the percentage. The other players then guess if they are higher or lower than the correct answer and get points. This is a pure luck game that adds a more interactive feature than previous games like fibbage. I really enjoyed this game and some of the wacky questions will surprise you. If you like luck games with a mix of using your common sense and knowing random facts, this is just up your alley. The final round is always a question where you pick 3 of the top answers (think family feud) and whoever gets it right usually wins from the huge bonus. It’s no different than most of their other games and I wish there was a little more variety, such as wagering your points. It’s a fun game nonetheless.

Fakin’ It

Fakin’ It is probably my favorite game in the pack. It’s the most interaction with your group on and off the screen and has tons of replay value. The game starts with an action that you must do (like raise your hand or point at someone) if the questions pertain to you or someone in your group. There is always one person who is the liar that doesn’t get to see the question and has to deceive the entire group to think they are actually playing along. I enjoy the resistance/mafia type aspect of this game and it really gets going when everyone starts accusing each other of being the liar. I must say, this game alone is worth the price of the pack because of the great replay value and amusement.

Quiplash 2

Jackbox Party Pack 3 Review

Quiplash 2 is more of the same as the old game, but has more questions and uses the new audience participation feature. Two people get a question and they have to think of the most creative/funniest answer for the entire group to vote for it. Nothing really new about this game, but it’s great for newcomers to this series and is definitely one of their finer games. You’ll have loads of fun thinking of how to get your group to vote for you and this one is the best for inside jokes.

Overall, this is a quality Jackbox Party Pack. Everything you get in it is worth playing at least once. I do not recommend these types of games for people that are looking to only play with themselves or one other person because you will be really disappointed. This is a party game that will have everyone wanting to play all night long. Jackbox games does a great job with the audience interaction in this threequel and I can’t wait for more creative, hilarious, and ridiculous packs.
