Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 1 Trailer

GameStop, Inc.

The new Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 1 Trailer shows how Superman goes from Earth’s greatest champion to its greatest threat.

Every villain is the hero of their own story. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment reveal a brand new trailer showcasing Superman’s mindset and role during Injustice 2. Before I go into the breakdown, and what we can learn from this trailer, let me get all the details and specs out the way. Injustice 2 is in development from NetherRealm Studios, the award-winning creators of Mortal Kombat. The game is set to release May 16, 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If you pre-order now you will also get Darkseid as a playable character.

Okay, now let me talk/type about the Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 1 Trailer.

@0:11 – We see Superman/Clark Kent in a prison uniform in a red light containment cell.

Finally! Confirmation of it taking place after the events of the first Injustice. I mean it was obvious it would be, but it was never made abundantly clear. Now we know that Superman is going to escape and things are going to change.

@0:35- We see Batman and Robin are back on the same side. I want to assume that Robin is Damian considering we’ve seen his Katana in other trailers. I’m guessing they get over him killing Dick, and he relinquishes the mantle and falls back into his role as Robin. He also seems younger than he did in the first game. It is stuff like this that makes the timeline the game takes place in so confusing.

@0:37-0:42- Wonder Woman and Cyborg are pretty much guaranteed to be part of Superman’s Regime once again. However, Blue Beetle’s presence makes it seem like the Teen Titans might play a role.

@0:43- It looks like Cyborg is the one who breaks out Superman, and Blue Beetle is tasked to prevent that, he obviously doesn’t or there would be no game.

@0:45- Seems like Supergirl/Kara is on Clark’s side but has doubts. Superman angrily tries to mansplain her doubts away.

@0:53- Superman just gives a straight ultimatum to Supergirl, “You’re either with me or against me.”

@1:02-1:04- Big bold title cards reading, “THE REGIME WILL RISE.” It basically seems like Superman and his loyal followers are going to attempt to rule the world once again.

After that, it just shows highlights of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg doing damage.

Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 1 is my favorite trailer for the game yet. Mainly because it reveals some context of the story. I tried my best at my interviews at Comic-Con to get some, but those professionals were doing their job and just teased information without giving me any. I expect we’ll get a nice chunk of it out after GDC, but you can never really know. The story’s place in the Injustice timeline of events is still really confusing to me. If Robin is Damian, why does he seem younger and how is he not in jail? If it’s Tim Drake, it would kind of make sense for the Teen Titans since Blue Beetle is also in it, but then again why is Tim younger than Damian? I have a lot of questions, and I still need to read Injustice Year 5 so I’m lost and not very useful. However, I’m excited and I think we should all be. Anyway, here’s some epic artwork from the game showing Superman in a tussle with Blue Beetle, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Flash, and what looks like Gorilla Grodd’s arm:
