It’s just about Christmas time so we’re all anxiously awaiting the return of a big fellow covered in red from head to toe. Oh no, Buster. I’m not talking about Santa Claus. I’m talking about Hellboy. Mike Mingnola‘s comic book creation returns to the big screen in 2019 and today gives us the first trailer for the rebooted Hellboy. Now, I’m not envious of the people behind the remake as they’ve got some incredibly big shoes to fill. Star David K. Harbour takes over as the heroic demon from Ron Perlman and director Neil Marshall takes over directing duties from Guillermo Del Toro. But this first look at Hellboy shows us that they’re certainly up to the task.
The new Hellboy has a noticably different look than the previous incarnation, with the makeup team giving Big Red a bit more of a gritty, grizzled look. Harbour has the stature and swagger required for the role. The Stranger Things breakout star is joined in the new film by Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Daniel Dae Kim, and American Honey breakout star Sasha Lane.
The horror master behind The Descent Neil Marshall directs Hellboy from a script by Andrew Cosby. Expectations are high to see the return of Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) and all eyes will be looking towards Hell for a hero when Hellboy rises into theaters and IMAX on April 12, 2019 from Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment.
