Japanese publisher Cygames announced a new anime series, ZOMBIE LAND SAGA at Anime Expo today, giving showgoers their first taste of an all-new anime take on the zombie apocalypse, being created in collaboration with MAPPA and Avex Pictures.
The three companies have assembled a powerhouse production team with some of the industry’s top talent, to create an all-new anime series that is set to take the undead world by storm when it is broadcast later this year. MAPPA, the studio behind cult hit Yuri on Ice, will work together with Avex Pictures, of Mr. Osomatsu fame, and Cygames, the Japanese entertainment company behind videogame and anime hits such as Granblue Fantasy and Shadowverse. Together the three companies will combine to give the zombie genre a refreshing new twist.
The series is set to debut in Autumn of 2018, but today showgoers at Anime Expo in Los Angeles were treated to a teaser trailer which gave an early taste of the new face of flesh-eating. The trailer was shown at the Cygames booth at the show (booth 3900), where it will continue to be shown for the rest of the show – alongside all sorts of other Cygames-related activities, from Granblue Fantasy themed cosplay and anime to Shadowverse demos, free swag, and appearances from an all-star cast of voice actors, artists, and pro gamers.
