Doomed romances are a story as old as time, but lately it sure seems as if there have been a lot of movies about terminally ill teenagers finding love. The latest in this burgeoning subgenre is Everything, Everything, director Stella Meghie‘s adaptation of the best selling novel by Nicola Yoon. Ahead of its theatrical opening on May 19, the second trailer for this tear-jerker teen drama has just landed from Warner Bros.
Amandla Stenberg stars as Maddy, a young woman with an illness that has prevented her from ever leaving her home for fear of what it’ll do to her weakened immune system. All that’s going to change for Maddy when a dreamboat walks into her life in the form of Olly (Nick Robinson). Though it might kill her, Maddy is ready to risk her life in order to have a perfect moment of love.
The men are going to have to make sure they have a shoulder to cry on readily available for the women in their lives when Everything, Everything lands in theaters on May 19, 2017.
The official synopsis for Everything, Everything:
What if you couldn’t touch anything in the outside world? Never breathe in the fresh air, feel the sun warm your face…or kiss the boy next door? “Everything, Everything” tells the unlikely love story of Maddy, a smart, curious and imaginative 18-year-old who due to an illness cannot leave the protection of the hermetically sealed environment within her house, and Olly, the boy next door who won’t let that stop them.
Maddy is desperate to experience the much more stimulating outside world, and the promise of her first romance. Gazing through windows and talking only through texts, she and Olly form a deep bond that leads them to risk everything to be together…even if it means losing everything.
