Epic Fighting, San Diego’s top amateur MMA promotion held Epic 30 at the Four Points Sheraton to a sold out crowd. All amateur fights are

Epic Fighting Logothree-two minute rounds, except title fights which are three-three minute rounds.

Here are the results as follow:


Featherweight (145 lbs) Rafael Guzman (0-0-0) vs Kevin Espina (0-0-0)

Guzman comes out hard but can’t take down Espina who’s fighting off the cage from the clinch, but knees Guzman in the family jewels. Guzman is letting his hands fly and has Espina in a standing guillotine, but he escapes and takes Guzman to the ground taking half-guard, but the two scramble with Guzman on top ending the round with the ground-and-pound.

Round two and Espina and Guzman circle each other as Guzman takes Espina down with a double leg ending up in side-mount but quickly transitions to half-guard. Guzman takes full guard and finishes Espina with the ground-and-pound.

Your winner at 1:32 of the second round by TKO, Rafael Guzman.

Heavyweight (265 lbs) Winston Morris (1-1-0) vs Edgar Barberi (0-0-0)

The Heavyweights are swinging wildly but Barberi caught Morris with a kick to the head then a big right hand, finishing this one on the ground with strikes.

This one is already over, at 57 seconds of the very first round by TKO, Edgar Barberi.

Welterweight (170 lbs) Claude Agorrilla (1-0-0) vs Brandon Fields (0-0-0)

Round one, they touch gloves, Fields leads with a low kick, but Agorrilla responds with the same kick then rushing in, taking cage control, but Fields throws Agorrilla with a head-and-arm, unfortunately for him Agorrilla reverses, takes his back and almost submits him. Fields reverses the reversal, takes Agorrilla’s back and wins by referee stoppage as Agorrilla’s right shoulder.

Your winner at 1:35 of the very first round via TKO due to injury, Brandon Fields.

Lightweight (155 lbs) Zachary Kraschinsky (1-0-1) vs Steven Schreel (0-0-0)

Round one they touch gloves and Schreel charges in with a kick that is caught Kraschinsky. Kraschinsky eats a kick to the body while he was fixing his hair. Schreel lands a stomp kick as he continues to lead with his feet and takes his opponent down with a double leg leading to full mount by Schreel who’s dropping the ground-and-pound, but gets rolled as the round comes to an end.

Second round is underway, they touches gloves and now it is Kraschinsky who leads with the low kicks but is taken down again by Schreel’s double leg, who transitions into full mount once more. Kraschinksy goes belly down and Schreel takes him him out with a rear naked choke.

Your winner at 1:04 of the second round by submission, Steven Schreel.

Middleweight (185 lbs) Daniel Molina (1-0-0) vs Jose Campos (1-0-0)

Round number one and Molina attempts a double leg that is stuffed by Campos who lands a knee to the body. Molina continues to press Campos on the cage but he breaks free, eats a right hand but refuses to be taken down. Campos eats a left hook but still manages to avoid the takedown as the round comes to a close.

Round number two, And Campos leads with a headkick, but Molina is swinging wildly as he jiu-jitsu has been stopped this entire fight. Molina’s takedown attempts look sloppy as he’s punched himself out, which is allowing Campos to open up, but unfortunately, this round has come to an end before he can finish his opponent.

Third and final round, Campos is dancing around as Molina lands a spinning back fist and it is now Campos who is going for the takedown, but misses. Molina throws a spinning back kick and Campos unloads with his punches as both end up on the ground. Campos hits the switch, lands a few punches but they are both up to their feet quick. Both men are gassed out but still fighting. This one ends with Molina pressing Campos against the cage.

Your winner by unanimous decision, Jose Campos

Featherweight (145 lbs ) Madison McElhaney (0-0-0) vs Rebecca Ireland (0-0-0)

Round one and McElhaney is unloading her kicks on Ireland, but Ireland has some hands as she connects with McElhaney’s body. McElhaney is utilizing her dirty body and drives Ireland into the corner, holding her in a side headlock as she beings unloading punches on her. Ireland reverses the position and escapes but McElhaney again uses her dirty boxing to end the round.

Second round, McElhaney charges and drops some heavy bombs on Ireland who’s only hope was to tie up. Ireland has McElhaney in a side headlock against the cage, but McElhaney is landing punches as she transitions to cage control. McElhaney has dominated this entire fight and bloodied Ireland’s nose.

The referee waves this one off as Ireland could not answer the bell.

Your winner by TKO, due to not answering the bell, Madison McElhaney.

Welterweight (170 lbs) Jefferson Creighton (2-2-0) vs Joey Bryant-Sowka (3-7-0)

This is the only non-title that’s going three-three minute rounds as Creighton goes for the head and even though Bryant-Sowka counters, he’s taken to the ground as Creighton ends up in his guard. Creighton has Bryant-Sowka against pressed against the cage and stacks his opponent before transitioning to the north-south position. Bryan-Sowka kicks Creighton off him and taks Creighton down from having his back against the cage. This round ends with Creighton having cage control.

Round number two, they touch gloves and exchange low kicks has Creighton takes Bryant-Sowka down with a single leg, mounts him against the cage and is trying to work. Creighton takes full mount and Bryant-Sowka pulls him close to avoid the ground-and-pound. Bryant-Sowka bucks Creighton off, stands up, kicks him in the face but gets taken down with another single leg and Creighton is back in guard. The referee stands them upp and Bryant-Sowka lands a body kick, couple of knees then gets taken down with a double leg to close the round.

Third and final round, both go for body kicks and Bryant-Sowka attempts a takedown but gets taken down with a double leg and mounted against the cage. Bryant-Sowka slips out the backdoor and stacks Creighton, but is caught in an armbar and somehow escapes only to pull Creighton into his guard. Bryant-Sowka kicks off Creighton, however, Creighton catches another kick leading to another single leg to guard. This one is over

Your winner by unanimous decision, Jefferson Creighton.

Cruiserweight (230 lbs) Brandon Emmett (0-1-0) vs Evandro Nunes (0-0-0)

Roundone they touch gloves and Nunes squats low, gets kicked in the leg, storms Emmett against the cage but as Emmett attempts a single leg, Nunes drives him back into full mount. Nunes transitions to a triangle and wins this one.

Your winner at 4:56 of the very first round by submission, Evandro Nunes.

Welterweight (170 lbs) Erika Ontiveros (0-0-0) vs Katherine Proudfoot (0-0-0)

Round one, Ontiveros  rushes Proudfoot against the cage, climbs on her back and has her in the rear naked choke, but Proudfoot is bridging up and defending the choke. Proudfoot breaks the choke, rolls into Ontiveros guard and pushes out as the round ends.

Round two, the don’t touch gloves as Proudfoot leads with a jab, but Ontiveros rushes in and gets the double leg into side control transitioning to half-guard, if they don’t get busy, the referee will stand them up.  Ontiveros ends this round in top position.

Third and final round, Proudfoot leads with a jab and a low kick, but gets rushed against the cage and taken down yet again by Ontiveros. Ontiveros has side control against the cage and is looking for a key lock. This one ends on the ground like the previous two rounds.

Your winner by unanimous decision, Erika Ontiveros.

Middleweight (185 lbs) David Boyko (2-1-0) vs Angel Ramirez (1-0-0)

They touch gloves and come out swinging, Ramirez gets a quick double leg, but Boyko is back to his feet quick. He gets taken down again as Ramirez transitions into half-guard against the cage. Boykos gets taken down as he attempts to press his way up the cage as the first round comes to a close.

Round number two, Boyko leads with his jab but is taken down yet again via a double leg, Ramirez takes his back then suplexes him transitioning into half-guard.

Last round, again they come out swinging and once again Ramirez uses the takedown to take control of the fight dropping hammer fists.

Your winner by unanimous decision, Angel Ramirez.

Light Heavyweight (205 lbs) Elijah Harris (2-3-0) vs Carlos Sutton (0-0-0)

Harris leads with a low kick but Sutton catches the next one a sweeps him to the ground landing in Harris’ guard. Sutton moves into half-guard and this round comes to a close.

Round two and Sutton slams Harris hard with a double leg as he continues to fight from the guard against the cage. Sutton takes Harris’ back as they continue to scramble with Harris landing in half-guard and going for the angle lock. It looked like Sutton had tapped, but the referee missed it. This one comes to a close with Harris on top.

Final round, Harris leads with his jab as he’s looking to set something up, but his stalling caused him to be taken down with a single leg by Sutton. Sutton loses cage control to Harris .

Your winner by unanimous, Elijah Harris.

Featherweight Championship (145 lbs) Christian Leon (4-0-0) vs Joshua Kim (1-0-0)

Due to time constraints, this match was postponed
