For the past 20 years, Dollamur Sport Surfaces have given to the sport of wrestling by producing top quality mats for two decades. Now to show their greater love for one of the original Olympic competitions, Dollamur Sport Surfaces teams up with U.S. Olympian Adeline Gray for a full #MatMakeover with $12,000 worth of mat and/or wall padding to those schools or clubs that need the equipment the most.
Dave Rossi, Sr. Vice President at Dollamur
“Everything about our mats are different. The weight, they easy to roll, they are much easy to handle, they don’t get harder over time. Every day we are looking at our mats and ask ourselves, ‘how do I make it better?’ We invented the Flexi-Connect™ to connect mats without tape. It’s used at the Olympic trials, NCAA competitions, UFC fighters uses our mats and other martial arts championships. We are never satisfied with yesterday,” said Dave Rossi, Sr. Vice President at Dollamur.
Rossi’s passion for wrestling comes from being apart of a wrestling family. His cousin was a strong wrestler in Pennsylvania, where there small town of 6,000 people constantly filled the football stadium with 10,000 fans. Sports was their entertainment and they always filled the gym with wrestling fans.
The contest begins at 12 p.m. EDT on October 10, 2016 and ends at 12 p.m. EDT on October 30, 2016. There will be a voting period from October 31, 2016 to November 8, 2016, where contestants can share their submission and solicit votes. Full details can be found HERE.
Along with Gray, former UFC champions Anthony Pettis and Johny Hendricks are on the advisory staff who are part of redeveloping the structures of their mats.
“I still use the skills that I learned in wrestling in business. When one of your guys is struggling, you get close to him and help him fight through it, you want to hold him up and help him. That’s what sports teach you. You get to learn to be a member of a team and the weight of winning or losing is on your shoulders and that’s why we are doing this contest to help give back to the sport that gave us so much,” said Rossi.
Voting closes on Halloween and the top 5 will be voted on from November 1-8th, 2016. The voting will be open to the wrestling community and the winner will get to decide how their name, logo and colors appear on the mats. Along with winning the new mats, Adoline Gray will be making the presentation to the winners.
