The history of this series has always left us wondering how and when Jennifer ever entered Marty’s life. How did they meet, when did they meet and what brought them together? Was it fate or was it circumstances.
First half of this issue is all about Jennifer and Marty coming together. Marty is typically insecure and not confident but Doc comes to the rescue and helps navigate Marty in the right direction. The dialogue is solid while the overall issue is not a winner, this part stands out and keeps the story at least interesting.
Second half of the issue focuses on Doc heading into the future, 2015 to be exact, so our past. Emmett shows up in 2015 wanting to improve the DeLorean. There is a car contest to win a prize and Doc decides to make the best of it in order to bring the DeLorean up to hover conversion standards.
Both stories make for an interesting issue that was a fun read. I am not sure there will be a ton of stories to tell in this series at this point but Back to the Future #4 is definitely worth picking up if movie watchers are interested in back stories that were never told.
Art is really a struggling part of this comic. Lettering is solid and distracts readers from the dreadful art. Definitely not the strongest part of this comic series.
