Nick Parkinson and Daniel Phillpe East from the Australian metal band Sálezianos, we talk about the formation of the band, and their latest single, ‘The Great Silence‘.
Sálezianos was born from the intense creative collaboration between Nick Parkinson (Larry Leadfoot) and Daniel Phillpe East (Artist Proof). What began as an experimental project exploring the extremes of darkness and dynamic sound soon grew into something more refined and purposeful. After channeling unfiltered energy through previous works like ‘Hellxotica‘ and ‘Sins and All: Live in Hellbourne‘, the duo rebranded as Sálezianos to reflect a broader and more evolved artistic vision.
The addition of vocalist Los Angeles resident, Henry Derek Elis (Scar the Martyr, Act of Defiance, Qaalm) recording his vocals across the Pacific, completing the band’s transformation. With a lineup now capable of delivering both raw aggression and intricate nuance, Sálezianos has emerged as a formidable force in the extreme metal underground, bold, versatile, and unmistakably original.
With more releases on the horizon, including reinterpretations of classic tracks by Alice In Chains and AC/DC, the band continues to challenge genre conventions while maintaining a deep sense of identity and purpose.
Their latest single, ‘The Great Silence‘, marks a new chapter in their sound. It’s a complex, shape-shifting composition that blends blackened intensity, progressive structures, and gothic atmosphere. Early listeners have responded enthusiastically, praising the track for its emotional power, artistic cohesion, and fearless blending of influences.
Parkinson explained that much of their creative drive stems from real-life hardships, and that this depth of experience naturally informs the darker aspects of their music. Rather than simply imitating a style, Sálezianos channels something authentic and lived-in—resulting in music that feels both cathartic and immersive.
Featuring a commanding vocal performance by Elis, ‘The Great Silence‘ builds on the promise of earlier tracks like ‘Temet Nosce‘ and pushes the band into even deeper territory—more refined, emotionally resonant, and undeniably intense.
