Ash and the Army of Darkness enters its 7th issue with the possessed form of Sheila working to build a creature to attack Ash. Meanwhile, Ash is back with his new hippie friend from the end of issue #6. The fairy-like woman describes a creature that Ash must never speak the name of, though of course he quickly messes this up. The two discuss Ash’s childhood and the nightmares he did not believe were real occurrences in his life. Armed with her creation, Sheila and the Army of Darkness find Ash and his fair friend and almost instantly things get uglier than a walking corpse.
Steve Niles and Nacho Tenorio strangely make reading this comic every month worth it. Steve Niles keeps the story a balanced blend of light and dark, while Tenorio ensures the visuals match the tone of the story. The blend works and keeps the readers interest, unlike so many books that use a movie as a premise.
Ash and the Army of Darkness #7 continues the mission of the S-Mart employee stuck so far from home. As this issue shows, he has been fighting for a long time.
