It’s time to duel! Konami Digital Entertainment showcases Yu-Gi-Oh! at New York Comic Con, with a particular focus on Duel Links
This video is from their SDCC booth this year. If it’s any indication of what they’re bringing to New York, Yu-Gi-Oh! at New York Comic Con is going to be fun!
Konami is bringing their popular Token Card creation, which allows con-goers to create their very own Token Card that can be used officially even in tournament play. If you break it down, it’s just your picture on an official Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card, you have no abilities, and likely will have 0 attack and defense. But you’ll officially be a card! And if you play tokens right, it could be a game changer.
Then for those who are all about con exclusives, you can get your hands on collectible Seto Kaiba mat! Personally, I’m a big fan of Joey Wheeler’s deck but Kaiba’s ruthless insults make him my favorite character, and this mat is giving me serious FOMO. I’m stuck in California working on some big game that is supposed to revolutionize mobile gaming so my life is pretty much that 14 hours a day… Anway-
Here’s the mat.
Fans at NYCC will also get an opportunity to not only see the new Yu-Gi-Oh! products, like the Legendary Dragon Decks. But the big draw, fans will get to play Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links in a special tournament format where you duel pre-generated Characters to Duel (using their signature decks of course) and battle your opponents for a limited-edition pin. All participants get a prize, but winning gets a better prize… the knowledge of besting your opponent and better pin.
Con goers who don’t know how to play the game or want to learn about the new Link Summoning game mechanic can get a demonstration from one of the numerous experts at the booth. Doing so will get you a free coupon to claim one free booster pack with the purchase of any Starter Deck. You can also get a bunch of tips and strategies from the experts.
And of course you’ll have a bunch of opportunities to duel at the booth with a variety of free Tournaments including:
Win-A-Mats, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! and more! Dragon Duel Tournaments, for Duelists born 2005 or later, will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. Here are the con hours so you can plan accordingly:
