STORY BY James Tynion IV
ART BY Jeremy Rock
Issue number 2 has arrived and it does not disappoint on any level. Talk about bringing in the New Year with a bang. Story-telling is solid, artwork is solid, nothing else to say but bravo!
The first issue was big on the First Lady’s issues and how we, as readers, were introduced to this monster within story-line. We experience a quiet low-key first lady with a possible insanity angle but were left with several holes that needed filling. Fast forward to this highly anticipated second issue, and we are beginning to see behind the initial plot line of this story. There also seems there are some truths to the visions we are being exposed to.
Readers get crumbs in this issue, which is genius. Little reveals about age-old secret and history are brought forth in a clever fashion. Every panel gets more and more strange leading me to feel as though there is something behind that door that no one will expect. The story has left me feeling uneasy, as if I am walking down a long dark corridor with something or someone waiting to jump scare us. Fear of the Unknown gives this book all the kudos needed.
The artwork as mentioned in my first review blends so well with the writing, that there really is no way to critique’ it. The realism in this artists style covers all spectrums and does it incredibly well. The lettering is also on point and from panel to panel does a solid job.
