Central Valley, CA Natives, Writers/Directors Eshom and Ian Nelms Talk About Their New Movie Fatman, Starring Mel Gibson, Walton Goggins and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Central Valley, CA natives, Writers/Directors Eshom and Ian Nelms are two guys who grew up playing with their G.I. Joes that claim to have had a loving household without holding any personal animosity towards their parents for not getting the toys they desired at Christmas.
However, when you bring about a movie like Fatman, where Santa is real and kids are so naughty that he cannot make his toy delivery quote, you start to wonder. In this film Chris Cringle (Mel Gibson) and his wife Ruth (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) are behind on their mortgage because too many kids are getting coal in their stockings, so team up with the United States military to manufacture parts for various armillary vehicles.
On top of that we meet super spoiled, rich brat Billy (Chance Hustfield) who not only cheats his way to first place in the science fair but once realizing he received a lump of coal for Christmas from the Fatman, he hires a hitman (Walton Goggins) to take out Father Christmas!
Official Synopsis:
To save his declining business, Chris Cringle (Mel Gibson), also known as Santa Claus, is forced into a partnership with the U.S. military. Making matters worse, Chris gets locked into a deadly battle of wits against a highly skilled assassin (Walton Goggins), hired by a precocious 12-year-old after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking. ‘Tis the season for Fatman to get even, in the action-comedy that keeps on giving.
I spoke with Eshom and Ian Nelms about the film, about how the story came into existance, if Walton Goggins has ever been in a bad project and if it was intentional to name the famous couple after the steak house.
Fatman comes to celect theaters on Friday, November 13th and On Demand and Digital Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
