WOW – Women of Wrestling hit the ground running on AXS TV last week and tonight’s episode did not disappoint as well, with third generation Superheroine, “The Born Legend,” Tessa Blanchard making her WOW debut against “The Beverly Hills Babe,” Amber O’Neal.
Also on tonight’s card was The Voodoo Doll against Princess Aussie and Jessie Jones versus Azteca, with a special guest appearance by former GLOW manager and the mother of the world’s greatest action hero, Jaqueline Stallone was ringside for all of the festivities.
Let’s break it down!
WOW Founder, David McLane interviews WOW Champion, Santana Garrett about last week’s incident with Tessa Blanchard, who attacked her father who literally tried to cut off his oxygen!
Garrett pulls a rare move in where the champion calls out a potential challenger in order to avenge her father, but Blanchard runs in and the two have to be separated by the referees. McLane tells Blanchard she needs to earn her title shot by going through Amber O’Neal!
The Voodoo Doll vs. Princess Aussie
The Voodoo Doll who reminds us of the late Big Bad Mama snakes her way into the ring followed by her opponent, Princess Aussie, who arrives with her Papua New Guinea tribe.
As intimidating as The Voodoo Doll is, Aussie is not impressed, standing toe-to-toe with the New Orleans native. Aussie lands a flying head scissors, but that doesn’t stop Voodoo Doll, before slamming her opponent and fish hooking her!
The Voodoo Doll has dominated the majority of the match, but Princess Aussie has the never say die attitude that is keeping her standing her ground. That unfortunately isn’t helping her as The Voodoo Doll is taking her from pillar to post, but Voodoo Doll goes to the well one more time before eating a Tornado DDT, leading to a Frog Splash and gets the victory! Now that’s what we call a comeback win!
Jessie Jones vs Azteca
From Southern Pride to Southern Shame, Jessie Jones has turned her back on her country girl values and went full Redneck. Azteca was having none of the wall talk as Jones claims to want to make wrestling great again, she sure went against her wrestling roots.
Jones hasn’t made any new fans at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, who are clearly behind her opponent from Mexico City. Azteca powered out of Jones head scissors. Jones scratches her chin at her Mexican opponent with the Italian gesture, telling her where to go, which was definitely a little confusing.
Jones has been working on the arm of Azteca, trying to do some serious damage to her opponent, Azteca wasn’t having it. She lands a big kick to the head, then a corkscrew splash but only gets the two count as Jones puts her foot on the rope, knowing exactly where she is in the WOW ring. Jones takes Azteca’s arm again and wins this one via tap out thanks to a wrist lock!
The Main Event – “The Born Legend” Tessa Blancard vs. “The Beverly Hills Babe” Amber O’Neal
O’Neal never goes out alone and tonight is no exception as she’s accompanied by her mentor/manager, former WOW World Champion, Lana Starr. That doesn’t impress The Born Legend, as Blanchard has her own legacy to live up to and that’s the family name.
O’Neal is going dirty with some hair pulling, but Blanchard can play equally dirty and returns the favor with some vicious knees, an elbow to the lower back and a near fall. Blanchard is making Grandpa Joe proud using some of the tactics he invented. O’Neal knows how to give a receipt as she mounts The Born Legend, drops some bombs and gets a near fall of her own.
Blanchard goes up to the top rope, misses a double stop and eats a super kick. O’Neal was looking for a Rock Bottom, scores another near fall and goes on to argue with the referee. O’Neal isn’t done yet, but gets stuck with a hammerlock DDT and this one is all over.
Post Match Promo
Blanchard calls out Garrett, lays down the smack talk pretty heavy and the two are going at it as the referees have to pull them apart with the show coming to a close.
WOW – Women Of Wrestling airs Friday nights at 9 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. PT only on AXS TV.
