Winnie the Pooh is back in a new live action film from Walt Disney Studios, Christopher Robin (which is not to be confused with last year’s biopic Goodbye Christopher Robin). After helming action hits like Quantum of Solace and World War Z, director Marc Forester returns to his softer side which he first displayed in Finding Neverland. Christopher Robin sees the eponymous young boy who grew up alongside Winnie the Pooh turning into a grown man with a family of his own and a job that drives him away from his family. In this four-minute sneak peek of Christopher Robin ahead of its August 3rd release, the film has echoes of Steven Spielberg‘s Hook (if that’s for better or worse is entirely up to your taste).
Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) is a workaholic in London that rarely has time to spent with his wife (Hayley Atwell) and daughter (Bronte Carmichael). Then Winnie the Pooh (voiced by Jim Cummings) returns to Christopher Robin’s life and soon the beloved bear and the fully grown boy set forth on an adventure towards the past, including a reunion with Eeyore (Brad Garrett), Piglet (Nick Mohammed), Rabbit (Peter Capaldi), Kanga (Sophie Okonedo), Roo (Sara Sheen), and Owl (Toby Jones).
Indie darling Alex Ross Perry co-wrote the screenplay with Allison Schroeder to revive the creation of A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard. Winnie the Pooh will make his triumphant return to the big screen when Christopher Robin opens in theaters on August 3, 2018.
