We know Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman to be three of the greatest heroes of all time, but what if they weren’t? The newest animated feature from DC/Warner Brothers asks just that question.
In Justice League: Gods and Monsters, the Justice League is above the law, using extreme force in the name of justice, and a brilliant scientist, Lex Luthor, leads the charge to take them down. The feature comes from the mind of renowned Batman producer/animator, Mr. Bruce Timm, director and DC Animation veteran Sam Liu, with a script by Alan Burnett from a story by Timm and Burnett. The all-star cast includes Benjamin Bratt as Superman, Michael C. Hall as Batman, Tamara Taylor as Wonder Woman, Paget Brewster as Lois Lane, C. Thomas Howell as Dr. Will Magnus, and Jason Isaacs as Luthor.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Journey to a divergent reality where the Justice League protects the planet — but answers to no one but themselves. Employing methods of intimidation and fear, this Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman deal brute force in the name of justice. In this alternate universe, Superman was not raised by the Kents in Smallville, the Caped Crusader is not Bruce Wayne, and Wonder Woman is not an Amazon warrior of Themyscira. When a group of famed scientists experience untimely “accidents,” a government task force follows the trail of clues to the Justice League — but is there a more powerful player operating from the shadows? It’s a high stakes game of intrigue, mystery and action that asks the question: How do you serve justice to those above the law?”
Justice League: Gods and Monsters is available July 28th, 2015 on Blu-Ray Deluxe Edition, Blu-Ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD.
