Camp Firewood is more than just a summer camp. Camp Firewood is an idea.A promise. A way of life.
The summer is truly heating up. The temperatures are routinely in the 90s and everyone’s feeling the humidity. It’s sure gearing up to be a Wet Hot American Summer. And this Friday, July 31st, at midnight, Netflix’s latest original series, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, will bring us back to Camp Firewood for the first time in 15 years. The prequel series, which has all the regulars from the 2001 cult comedy returning, is easily one of the most anticipated pieces of pop culture to hit this summer, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that this latest featurette for the comedy series starts out with “Fox on the Run” by The Sweet — just so much rockin’.
This featurette highlights the reunion of the original cast, and drawing attention to the fact these older version of themselves are still playing 16-year-olds. There’s also a glimpse at some of the newcomers to the craziness of Camp Firewood, including John Slattery, Lake Bell, and Chris Pine. Friday can’t get here soon enough. I’m more than ready for Michael Showalter and David Wain to shuffle us away to Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.
