Current WBA World Champion and first mixed Native American Female World Champion Boxer Kali ‘K.O.’ Reis makes her feature film debut in ‘Catch the Fair One‘, written and directed by Josef Kubota Wladyka.
We spoke with Reis and Wladyka about ‘Catch the Fair One‘ significance to the story of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) human-rights crisis disproportionately affects Indigenous peoples in Canada and the United States.
In the film, Reis plays Kaylee, a former boxer and drug addicted on the search for her missing sister in hopes to find her alive. In the process, she must go to the lowest depths of humanity in order to get her answers and fight her way to survival.
Wladyka literally pulls no punches in his storytelling and the use of Reis, a professional boxer in a film like this makes ‘Catch the Fair One‘ and even more powerful story, especially when it comes to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
