This monkey business is getting out of hand in the latest trailer for War of the Planet of the Apes, the third entry in this revitalized franchise directed by Matt Reeves. The first two entries in the new Apes franchise have been excellent and the expectations and stakes couldn’t be higher for Caesar (Andy Serkis) in the latest sequel, where humanity and the apes will clash in the latest battle for control of the Earth. Taking the mantle as the villain in War for the Planet of the Apes is Woody Harrelson, whose military leader brings to mind thoughts of Marlon Brando as Col. Kurtz in Apocalypse Now.
I was already on board for this latest Apes film, but this final trailer for the movie has me more than sold. Apes riding on horseback and fighting Harrelson’s human army as Iggy & the Stooges’ “Search and Destroy” plays over the footage? Oh yeah, it’s like they’re making this trailer just to get me more and more excited for the impending War for the Planet of the Apes.
It’s humanity’s last chance against those damn dirty apes when War for the Planet of the Apes breaks out in theaters on July 14, 2017.
