The latest James Bond film, Spectre, hits theaters in the US in just over a month from now, and trailers and featurettes have been coming at us fast and furious. The last 23 Bond films always have featured theme songs by popular singers of the time including Madonna, Shirley Bassey, Alicia Keys and Jack White, Garbage, and Nancy Sinatra. Spectre is no different, grabbing Grammy Award-winning international pop star Sam Smith to pen its theme song, The Writing’s on the Wall. His newest album In The Lonely Hour has gone multi-platinum, and has been on the Billboard charts for quite a long time, making it the 2nd best selling album of 2014 in both his native United Kingdom, but the US as well. Today he has just debuted the video for the theme, and while it’s not my cuppa, it is a wonderfully lush video befitting a Bond film.
The official synopsis for Spectre:
A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
Spectre is in theaters in the US on November 6th.
