Dark Horse and Dynamite are following up Conan/Red Sonja with another pairing of high-profile figures in Aliens/Vampirella. Two dark, powerful forces will face off against one another later this year as the scarlet-clad vamp faces the well-armored Xenomorphs. Who will win the battle and how will it end?
The book will be written by Corinna Bechko, author of Star Wars: Legacy and Savage Hulk and marks the first time the two universes have collided. Bechko has a long-time love of Alien and thinks the aliens might be a match for Vampirella, saying:
“I’ve loved Alien since I first saw it as a kid on a crummy old TV in a well-lit room and got scared half to death anyway. Now that I have the chance to add a little corner to that universe I couldn’t be happier. And pitting such an implacable horror against Vampirella? That’s a meeting that definitely produces very fertile story-telling ground. The Alien franchise has always thrived with strong women in the lead. Smart, self-assured Vampirella is a joy to write for, even when she may have met her match.”
It promises to be a memorable meeting.
