New York native and California resident, Jamal Brown Pays Tribute to the late, great DMX in his latest short film.
I first became away of Jamal Brown during the Newport Beach Film Festival in the fall of 2022. Brown’s first ever short film, ‘Trouble in the Culture‘ was selected for Newport’s short block and was incredibly funny, not only for a first time filmmaker but also on a shoestring budget.
In Brown’s latest short, ‘DMX Tribute‘ Brown page homage to the late rapper, who also hailed from Yonkers, New York. During our lunch meeting in Mission Viejo, CA this past weekend, Brown mentioned that virtually none of the cast had acted let alone stood in front of a camera prior to filming the ‘DMX Tribute.’
Brown has been a musician and started studying film production in South Orange County where he was able to take those classroom skills in first creating ‘Trouble in the Culture.‘
Brown’s entrepreneurial spirit continues to drive him forward has he also looks to expand into the fashion world.
