Dogman, the new film from director Matteo Garrone, the director of Gamorrah and Tale of Tales, features two of the worlds most cinematic things — dogs and mob violence. Magnolia Pictures has just released the first trailer for the Italian crime drama and it looks to be one the year’s most captivating films.
Marcello Fonte stars as a gentle and kind dog groomer living in a small Italian village. His days are filled with tending to the needs of pooches as well as his young daughter. But a former boxer turned neighborhood terror (Edoardo Pesce) pushes the kindly groomer to the edge with his ruthless brutality. It’s only a matter of time before a man who tends to man’s best friend is pushed to become one man’s worst enemy.
As well as releasing the trailer for Dogman, Magnolia Pictures have also unveiled a highly stylized poster for Garrone’s crime drama. Dogman will be released in theaters on April 12, 2019 from Magnolia Pictures.
The official synopsis for Dogman:
In a seaside village on the outskirts of an Italian city, where the only law seems to be survival of the fittest, Marcello is a slight, mild-mannered man who divides his days between working at his modest dog grooming salon, caring for his daughter Alida, and being coerced into the petty criminal schemes of the local bully Simoncino, an ex-boxer who terrorizes the neighborhood. When Simoncino’s abuse finally brings Marcello to a breaking point, he decides to stand up for his own dignity through an act of vengeance, with unintended consequences.
