Forgive me, dear reader, though I fear that I may sneak a bit of snark into the proceedings before you, but I’m hoping to keep the blasphemy to an absolute minimum. Today I bring you, courtesy of the fine folks over at Focus Features, the trailer for The Young Messiah, a film due out around Easter time next year that tells the story of a young Jesus. As a non-believer, this is the kind of film that does nothing for me, not even the faint hope that it might unintentionally hilarious. The story of Jesus is well-told, and this film looks like it aims to appeal solely to the faithful.
Of course, we do see Sean Bean makes an appearance in the film, so we probably know what’s in store for his character. Directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, The Young Messiah will open in theaters and preach to the choir on March 11th, 2016. For the rest of us, we’ll have to watch The Life of Brian for the millionth time.
The official synopsis for The Young Messiah:
The inspiring and unique story of seven-year-old Jesus Christ and His family as they come to a fuller understanding of His divine nature and purpose.
