The Sleepover Trailer makes us wonder if we really know our parents
Netflix does an amazing job of balancing content for everyone. They gave us adult content like with Umbrella Academy, some general content with Transformers War for Cybertron. Now we have something for the family. The Sleepover is a family adventure-comedy there some kids find out about their mother’s previous life is very different than her life as a mom. Any movie with Malin Akerman, Ken Marino, and Joe Manganiello is guaranteed to bring the laughs. The kids, Sadie Stanley and Maxwell Simkins seem pretty funny too. In The Sleepover Clancy (Stanley) and her little brother, Kevin (Simkins) discover their stay-at-home mom Margot (Akerman) is actually a high-end thief in the witness protection program. Margot and her husband (Marino) are kidnapped and forced to pull one last job with Margot’s ex (Manganiello). With their parents in danger, the kids have to team up and rescue their parents. The film looks to embrace the cliches of family-friendly adventures and take an intelligently self-aware approach that allows them to be a bit cliche without feeling like it.
The Sleepover is directed by Trish Sie and written by Sarah Rothschild. The film releases on Netflix on August 21, 2020.
