Captain Marvel Trailer

It’s Marvel’s world and we’re just living in it. Since, secrecy surrounds next year’s follow up to Avengers: Infinity War, there’s only one movie that Marvel fans can look forward to, the debut of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. Today brings us the first trailer for the superhero flick helmed by the duo of Ryan Fleck and Anna Bowden, and it’s going to get people plenty hyped for Captain Marvel without unveiling a single thing that might even slightly be construed as a spoiler. Instead, this trailer for Captain Marvel give us a modest taste of the character and the ’90s setting without really unveiling the plot, which we know from other reports involves the Skrulls (!).

I’m curious to see how Fleck and Bowden have their superhero story unfold, as the trailer informs that Carol Danvers is a charater whose life has been split in two, a life before her superpowers in the Air Force and a rebirth as powerful being from beyond. Joing Brie Larson in the cast of Captain Marvel include a few old favorites from the Marvel Universe, including Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury and Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, as well as original Guardians of the Galaxy villains Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Korath (Djimon Hounsou). Newcomers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe include Jude Law, Annette BeningBen Mendelsohn, and Gemma Chan.

Simply by being a Marvel movie means that Captain Marvel is already one of the most anticipated movies of 2019. For me, however, I’m always looking forward to what Marvel has up its sleeve but Captain Marvel piques my interest because I want to see what the directing duo of Ryan Fleck and Anna Bowden bring to the superhero genre. This filmmaking team has been among some of the best independent filmmakers of the past decade and have specialized in quiet, character driven dramas, so I’m dying to see how their sensibilities play out on the vast canvas of a superhero blockbuster.

The world has been waiting for the first Marvel movie headlined by a female superhero and those demands will get their long overdue answer when Captain Marvel is released in theaters on March 9, 2019.

The official synopsis for Captain Marvel:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
