The Conjuring is the scariest movie of 2013, thus far. Based on actually events, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) are sought out by Perron Family (Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor) to help them identify what evil has taken over their farmhouse. Little do the Warren’s know, this will be their most difficult case they have ever encountered.
Fear, suspenseful and haunting are the only ways to describe this film. I did not sleep for three days after the screening as my overactive imagination got the best of me. The cast is superb, Livingston and Taylor bring true fear to the silver screen. Their sense of helplessness only adds to the question, “How would I react in their situation?”
Even now, while writing this review, my spine is tightening from thoughts of scenes of the demoness, Bathsheba terrorizing this poor, New England family who only want to make a new life for themselves.
If you like suspsense, if you like to be scared by paranormal things that go bump in the night, then The Conjuring is your movie. As for me? I’m going to light a candle, say a few prayers and go to confession.
The Conjuring opens July 19, nationwide.
