We’re now two episodes into the CW Seed animated series, Vixen. Here’s our review of episode one. While short, they’ve already given us a glimpse of Mari McCabe’s (Megalyn Echikunwoke) powers in action, a potential love interest, and the series’ villain. Next up we get a visit from Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and The Flash (Grant Gustin) in this clip from episode three. We have a short featurette as well.
We also have this new, very short Gotham teaser that shows why next season is subtitled Rise of the Villains.
Gotham returns September 21st on Fox.
We also have the first trailer for the quirky CW drama, iZombie. Last season was a fun little romp, and from the look of this trailer next season promises more of the same.
iZombie returns October 6th on the CW.
Deadline brings news that Sons of Anarchy‘s Theo Rossi will play a “relentless and menacing, smooth and manipulative, street smart and controlling” character on Netflix’s upcoming Luke Cage. No character name was given, but sources close to the show are saying he will portray Shades, a villain closely tied to Cage. Rossi will join Mike Colter and Alfre Woodard (Black Mariah) in the series, and Rosario Dawson will be reprising her role as Night Nurse/Claire Temple as well. Colter and Dawson will first be appearing on Jessica Jones later this year.
UPDATE
It has also been announced that Simone Missick has joined the cast of Luke Cage as Missy, “a woman with a strong sense of justice”. The report suggests that “Missy” is actually Misty Knight, the former police woman with the bionic arm provided by Tony Stark that frequently joins Luke Cage and Iron Fist in their fight for justice alongside her partner Colleen Wing. Knight and Danny Rand (AKA Iron Fist) were even romantically involved for a time, so expect her to appear in his series as well, if not The Defenders, as she has done in the comics in at least one incarnation of the team.
