I’ve spent most of the day at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean I’ve been slacking on bringing you all the news that fits.
This week’s episode of Gotham looks to be upping the ante, villain wise. Titled The Penguin’s Umbrella, the episode I’m sure will be focused again on its breakout character, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), and his machinations to eventually run the criminal underworld. However, the GCPD have a new villain to watch out for, and he’s coming after Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie). Monday, November 3rd sees the debut of Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) to Gotham’s streets, and they’ve never seen anything like him.
“Cool. Calm. Collected. Unhinged. Zsasz is coming, and has Jim Gordon in his sights.”
Last night’s episode of Constantine introduced us to Zed Martin (Angélica Celaya), a character familiar to Hellblazer readers, but next week brings us another series regular. This new trailer for November 7th’s episode brings us face-to-face with Papa Midnite (Michael James Shaw).
“In “The Devil’s Vinyl,” John and Zed engage in a dangerous confrontation to save a woman and her family from sinister forces. John’s efforts force him to confront the darkness in his own life – while also coming face to face with a new powerful adversary in Papa Midnite? Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford also star.”
The official Constantine Youtube channel also brings us this five minute behind-the-scenes special, To Hell and Back: The Darkness Beneath, bringing together writer Christine Boylan, the cast, the show’s creators, Geoff Johns, and a paranormal consultant to discuss Zed’s introduction to Constantine.
Over on Arrow this week we get a peek into Felicity Smoak’s (Emily Bett Rickards) past at MIT, where we find she was a goth? We also get to meet her mother, Donna, played by Charlotte Ross. Photos provided by E! Online and TVLine.
The official CW Youtube channel has provided a trailer for the episode, entitled The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak.
And finally, out of DC’s toybox and into Marvel’s sandbox. Deadline is reporting that Gambit will be getting his very own spin-off movie, starring Channing Tatum as the titular Cajun, Remy LeBeau, with Robocop scribe Josh Zetumer penning a script based heavily on a treatment by long time X-Men writer Chris Claremont.
That’s all the news for now.
