Suddenly Drunk Review – The Title Says it All

Suddenly Drunk Review – Suddenly Drunk does exactly what its title says and is simultaneously the best and worst thing ever

Suddenly Drunk Review

Suddenly Drunk’s Box of Bad Ideas will simultaneously be the best and worst decision players make. The Box of Bad Ideas contains a new edition of the core game of Suddenly Drunk as well as new lifeline cards, the Book of Shame, and a fully loaded sample deck with cards from other expansions. But before getting into the Box of Bad Ideas, players will likely want to know if Suddenly Drunk is a good idea in the first place. So I’ll start with the Suddenly Drunk review.

Suddenly Drunk Review

Suddenly Drunk is a party game, or to be more accurate a game modifier, from Breaking Games that increases the amount of drinking during game night. While it technically works as a game on its own, players would essentially just be drinking or telling other players to drink with no breaks in between. It is mean to be played along with any other game. Players, draw a card and perform the actions on it immediately, or possibly save it to play sometime later. It is incredibly simple, which is the brilliance and danger of Suddenly Drunk.

An example scenario would be to play Suddenly Drunk while playing The Game of Life. The player going first draws a card from the Suddenly Drunk deck, reads it, and performs the action on it, then proceeds to spin the wheel and take their turn in Life. Players repeat that until the deck runs out, they decide to stop playing, or are no longer able to play.

Suddenly Drunk is the easiest game to learn since the coin toss. If a person can read, they can plan. It is that simple. However, the longer a player plays, the less likely they are able to read or follow directions. The game’s strength becomes its eventual stopper.

This Suddenly Drunk review is coming from the perspective of fans of responsible alcohol consumption. We do not promote drinking and driving and any other unlawful behaviors. That being said, Suddenly Drunk is bottles of fun. It’s intuitive rules and simplicity adds a rich layer of challenge to any game. In that sense, it truly enhances the experience.

However, its intuitiveness and nature also tend to enhance the competitive nature of the players. While it does provide a lot of fun, it can be dangerous. Time and many other things fly when people have fun, and the simplicity of Suddenly Drunk is great but also equally dangerous because of that. Players pick up and play the game so fast that they tend to lose track of how much alcohol they are consuming in a very short period of time.

Assuming players drink as responsibly as we do, we are sure they will enjoy the addition of Suddenly Drunk to their game nights. Breaking Games made an incredibly easy game to learn and play that contributes to more entertaining uses of the night’s alcohol. If you enjoy drinking while gaming and would like to add a bit of controlled chaos to the drink consumption, Suddenly Drunk is the perfect solution. Due to its intuitiveness and universal use application, this Suddenly Drunk review gets a 5/5

Suddenly Drunk’s Box of Bad Ideas (Good Idea or Bad Idea?)

Suddenly Drunk is available for just $10 and is well worth the price. It is the perfect party game to start and/or end a party. With the game as fun as it is, the Box of Bad Ideas only adds to it. Personally, the added Lifelines adds an amazing risk factor to the game. Lifelines allow players to save themselves and also screw over others. The risk of choosing a person who can redirect the drink is a great reward of the Box of Bad Ideas, and the Fully Loaded Sampler takes the game in some very different directions.

The sampler contains cards from the Hardcore Expansion, Sexy Expansion, and Gross Expansion of Suddenly Drunk. The Hardcore Expansion adds more intense drinking rewards/punishments, the Sexy Expansion adds some sultry and potentially lewd actions, and the Gross Expansion adds some icky punishments.

On top of the added Lifelines and expansions, the Box of Bad Ideas comes with a Book of Shame. The Book of Shame is a nice knick-knack, meant to record players who perform party fouls while playing. However, players tend to forget, not want to, or remember to record the party fouls, so I feel most Books of Shame will go unused.

For players who enjoy drinking while gaming, Suddenly Drunk is the perfect game to enhance their drinking during game night. On the same note, Suddenly Drunks Box of Bad Ideas is just as perfect but even more. The only real downside to the Box of Bad Ideas is that it will make you want to buy the other expansions. So, if players do like to drink and game, going directly for Suddenly Drunk’s Box of Bad Ideas is highly recommended and more than likely a good idea.

TLDR

Assuming players drink as responsibly as we do, we are sure they will enjoy the addition of Suddenly Drunk to their game nights. It is an incredibly easy game to learn and play and contributes more entertaining uses of the night’s alcohol. If you enjoy drinking while gaming, and would like to add a bit of controlled chaos to the drink consumption, Suddenly Drunk is the perfect solution. Suddenly Drunk’s intuitive rules, extremely reasonable price point, and mass potential of inebriated antics make it the perfect party game.
